YOU can help good authors publish better books!

Learn the admin side of publishing and become an author's assistant

Are you a Virtual Assistant looking for something more?

Imagine trading the tedium of dull business admin for the creative world of author assistance services, where you never know what crazy topic you might be asked to research or who you could end up calling for an interview… Or where your flair for formatting is reflected in a perfect finished book, or your social media skills nudge your client into the Top 100…

Last year 2.2 million books were published! As authors gain traction with their writing and sales, they start looking to outsource the type of work that virtual assistants, graphic designers, and marketers are brilliant at doing.

But they’re looking for a special type of assistant:
.
✅ “…good Virtual Assistants who are used to working with Authors.”
✅ “Someone who can listen and learn.”
✅ “As a designer, I have author clients seeking help setting up and running their online marketing. I’d love to have a list of VAs who specialise in publishing so I can refer them on.”

NOT:

❎ “One VA I spoke to didn’t want to hear anything about my business. Apparently she knows much better with no books than someone who’s been publishing for years.”
❎ “The difficulty is finding VAs who know anything about book promotion.”
❎ “Just sacked my third VA for not knowing how the book buying system works and being too arrogant to learn.”

Would you like to learn the admin side of publishing from someone who is not just an author, but also an editor, a publisher, and a writing coach? I have been in the industry for nearly 20 years.

I can show you how every part of the process works, so that you can be that VA who knows how to work with authors, who has a good overview of the publishing industry, and who understands book promotion and the industry-specific buying system.

If you love books, join me for a comprehensive course in publishing admin and I’ll help you find your feet in this fascinating creative industry.

About your instructor

Australian author Elle Carter Neal has been in the publishing industry for 18 years, and has edited more than 2 million words, working with 27 different authors. She is the author of five books, numerous short stories, and has been involved in ghostwriting and ghostediting on several projects.

Before she resigned to pursue her publishing career full time, Elle trained as a secretary and worked her way up from filing clerk to executive assistant at director level. She has worked in Australia, England, and South Africa. One of the highlights of her secretarial career was travelling to Johannesburg in South Africa to take the minutes for a three-day SADC water conference in 2001, summarising the presentations of delegates from more than ten different countries.

Elle brings her experience from both the corporate and creative fields together in this course, teaching virtual and personal assistants how to support authors and publishers.
